TRENTINO ALTO ADIGE

This region of northern Italy is characterised by its imposing mountain ranges. Consequently it is a territory of mountainous massifs and sparkling glaciers from which gush water that in the course of years has hollowed out the land and mountains, making the area one of nature‘s wonders. A short description of the mountain ranges is necessary: to the north we find the alpine chain of the Atesine Alps made up of the Venoste and Aurine Alps, while to the south we find the southern Retiche Alps and the Adamello, Ortles, Cevedale and Brenta ranges. The mountainous chains rise up to an altitude of 2700-3900 m. Both that of Alto Adige and Trentino are part of the western section of the Dolomites (the Sesto Dolomites, the Puez, Odle, Sciliar, Sassolungo, Catinaccio, Marmolada Group and the Sella, Latemar, Pale di San Martino Group), while to the south the mountain ranges slope down to the Pre-Alps.
